Steddum Dentistry was born from the idea of Dr. Steddum wanting to offer the level of care that she would expect for herself and her family. These days, larger offices are often too busy and profit-centered to provide the quality of care that people deserve. Dr. Steddum wanted a place to provide a calm, inviting environment where care is truly patient-centered.
We have a small, quiet office space, and we strive to keep patient flow such that the office is never chaotic. We know dental anxiety is real, and we try our best to help patients overcome this with our patient-centered approach to care. We are fully digital office, offering digital x-rays and digital scans that replace any goopy, messy impressions that you might have dealt with in the past.
Dr. Steddum has a decade of experience in patient care and has completed numerous full mouth rehabilitation and cosmetic cases. She strives to provide balance between functionality and esthetics, and deeply cares about the patient’s overall oral health.
Dr. Steddum is dedicated to being a life-long learner and attends continuing education courses frequently to stay up-to-date on modern dentistry. She has achieved her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry as a result of this hard work.
About Lauren S. Steddum, DMD, FAGD
Dr. Steddum is originally from Flemington, NJ, but primarily grew up in Raleigh, NC. She attended Cardinal Gibbons High School and then attended UNC-Chapel Hill for her undergraduate studies. She continued on to East Carolina School of Dental Medicine, where she earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree in 2016.
After graduating from dental school, Dr. Steddum went on to complete a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. During her residency, she had advanced training in all aspects of general dentistry, focusing on complex treatment planning and placing dental implants.
Dr. Steddum is also a graduate of the Nash Institute, where she studied cosmetic dentistry under the instruction of Dr. Ross Nash; her continuing education focuses on veneers, esthetic crowns, esthetic composites, and full mouth rehabilitation. She then served as a mentor at the Nash Institute for some time. Additionally, Dr. Steddum is a certified Invisalign provider and achieved Invisalign Platinum Provider status in 2022.
In 2023, Dr. Steddum became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. She is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the local Raleigh Wake County Dental Society.
Dr. Steddum and her husband, Chris, met in dental school and were married in 2015. She and Dr. Chris Steddum have two daughters that keep them very busy outside the office! In her little spare time, Dr. Steddum enjoys working out at her favorite Raleigh-based gym, Heat Strength. She also enjoys baking, yoga, and spending time outdoors and at the beach.
Dr. Steddum loves helping patients achieve their best smile while keeping the approach as conservative as possible. She believes in making smiles not only beautiful but also functional. There is a balance must strive to achieve between esthetics and function. Both are important in achieving overall great oral health and patient confidence.
